Institute of Ambassadors of the City of Odesa
The Institute of Ambassadors of the City of Odesa is a unique initiative launched by the Odesa City Council. It aims to engage distinguished figures and active citizens in promoting the city’s unique identity while enhancing its image and prestige both in Ukraine and internationally.
Who Are the Ambassadors of the City of Odesa?
Ambassadors of the City of Odesa are individuals who, within their areas of expertise and in compliance with state policies on foreign relations, contribute to shaping and improving Odesa’s image and prestige. They play a role in fostering cultural, tourism, economic, educational, medical, and humanitarian cooperation with partners in Ukraine and abroad. Ambassadors serve on a voluntary basis.
As a center of innovation and cultural diversity, Odesa requires the strengthening of economic, cultural, social, and scientific ties with cities around the world.
Currently, Ambassadors of Odesa can be based in a specific country or a city within a country. There can be multiple city-based Ambassadors within a country, but only one Ambassador representing the country as a whole.
The Institute of Ambassadors has been expanding each year and now represents a well-developed network of interaction and cooperation in countries such as the Italian Republic, the United Kingdom, the French Republic, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Bulgaria, and others. Since 2024, the initiative has also been implemented within Ukraine, with the first domestic Ambassador based in Kharkiv.

Who Can Become an Ambassador?
Representatives from international, cultural, tourism, economic, educational, medical, and humanitarian sectors, as well as public figures.
Citizens of Ukraine or foreign countries.
When candidates are nominated for the title of "Ambassador of the City of Odesa" in a country or city, a special Commission reviews the applications and makes the final selection.
This title is granted for one year. Therefore, each year, a Commission, chaired by the Mayor of Odesa, convenes to review the reports of current Ambassadors, decide on extending their terms, and evaluate new candidates for the title of "Ambassador of the City of Odesa."
